Great day today! We took the kids on a Field Trip. Yes we were brave to take them so early in the year. Overall, the trip was really great. The kiddos have been studying about the phases of the moon so, the Coca-Coca Cola Space Center did a wonderful flip book activity with them. They were all such great listeners and had so many questions. They also had the opportunity to see a movie talking about the constellations. The were very amazed!

I have not been able to blog as much as I want. New standards and lots of meetings have kept me from posting. I'm starting slow, but hope to continue to add more as the year goes on. It's really fun. New pictures soon of the completed classroom and more activities the children have been working on in class.

Back to School! What a RUSH!!!!

Wow! What a week so far! We started back to school last Wednesday and boy has it been a total RUSH! Do you ever feel that way when school starts back? I know I have been feeling it for the past 5 days!

I did get A LOT of sweet little ones this year. My class size is around 23. I am sure some of you have about the same or more. So far, everything is going good! I know it takes time to adjust to new schedules, new faces, and most of all  NEW STANDARDS! How many of you are adjusting to CCS? Change is good. However, I feel like I am a beginning teacher again. Long hours researching and putting together new lesson plans. Thank goodness for curriculum coaches!

Well, I have made some changes to my classroom and many of my ideas came from other teachers from pinterest.

Teachers Pay Teachers...

Today I uploaded two items on Teachers Pay Teachers. This is my first educational post. You can catch the first item for FREE! It's an Active Inspire Flipchart (Promethean Users) on Non Standard Measurement. I have already had 9 to download it. My second upload was a power-point I created for teachers to use to practice subtraction fluency with whole groups, small groups, or as they see fit. I am selling the PPT for $2.00. I plan on uploading the complete set over the summer. I just want to see if there is a market for PPTs. We shall see... I had fun anyway! It's all about sharing. :)

Summer Time and Blueberries!!!

Today I went outside to check on my blueberry bushes. My husband told me the night before that I had a lot of them ready to pick.Well, for the past 5 years, I have not even had a cup. So as I walked in my backyard, I was so surprised to see so many. THEY WERE HUGE! I picked the ones that were ripe and ready to pick. I was amazed to see I have so many left. I can't wait until they ready.  

Anyway, I also noticed how beautiful the flowers were too. My sweetheart does such a beautiful job gardening and landscaping our yard. I had to take a few pictures to share. I hope you  enjoy them as much as I did.

Good Ole' Buck

Today was a sad day for the Whitley Family. We lost an old family friend. His name was Buck. He was our Black Lab (He was actually my stepson's dog). It amazes me how close we become to our four legged friends. They are such an important part of our lives. 

God has blessed us with some amazing dogs. It's sad to let them go, but we are so thankful we had all our dogs for a very long time. Joe passed in 2009, Charlie in 2011, and Buck in 2012.

Brodie and Dolly Ann (our Basset Hounds) were sad too. They always went out to greet 

Buck every morning. It was routine for them, you can tell they knew something was different.

If you ever have the opportunity to own a dog...love them and cherish them. They always want to please their owners.

God is GOOD!

My nephew's graduation was nice. Thank goodness it was inside. I loved seeing everyone.

Today was a great day. I enjoyed listening to a few sermons this morning. Isn't it amazing how the messages can feel like they are directed to you. What amazed me today, was how BOTH messages touch my heart and how it applied directly to a few thing going on in my life. God id GOOD all the time, ALl the time God is GOOD!

I hope everyone has an amazing and safe Memorial Day Weekend! Thank you to all of you who have served in the armed forces.

What a Beautiful Day!

Well, I did not post anything yesterday or the day before. However, I did start a couple of blogs that are my favorites. I am planning on adding more. These last couple of days have been filled with lots of fun. I finished up packing my classroom up (not really fun), I got to see my sweet granddaughter, and I had my family over for dinner. I love having my house full.

Today, my nephew Bill graduates. I am very proud of him. So we will be travelling to see him. What a beautiful day for a graduation. Also, What a HOT day it will be.

Well, a short Blog...but I will pick up soon. I hope today I will add more to "My Favorite Blogs".

First Day of Summer and Many Changes

Today is my official first day of Summer BREAK! Whoot! Whoot!  Our family has and continues to adjust to all the changes in our lives. These changes are life changes. Our only daughter and the "baby" graduated a few days ago, May 18th and is ready to begin "her" life away from home. I am not sure how ready I am! We are also PROUD Grandparents! YEAH! Camren Elise came to us May 11, 2012 at 6:31 PM. She weighed 6 pounds and 14 ounces. She is just beautiful.



I hope to create a blog to share with others my joys in life and my joy as a teacher. I admire so many other teacher blogs, I thought it was time to start one myself. I also know there are other moms out there going through the same changes as I am, the "EMPTY NEST"! I would love to hear from others how they a coping or have coped in the past.
